Soulful hospitality meets real-estate expertise
At edyn, we combine the design and lifestyle sensibilities of boutique hotels with the freedom and flexibility of serviced apartments, developing distinctive brands and properties that offer vibrant experiences, firmly rooted in their locality.
Supported by our real-estate expertise and seasoned development team, edyn’s unique, scalable business model offers operational flexibility and extraordinary economic resilience.
Firmly rooted in their local neighbourhoods and offering vibrant experiences and connections that nourish and enliven the soul, our brands have widespread, multi-segment appeal for today’s travellers.
Our seasoned in-house Development Studio combines a multi-disciplinary skillset with real-estate expertise to create aparthotels and serviced apartments with design and lifestyle sensibilities.
Our real-estate-cum-hospitality business model offers operational flexibility, cyclical agility and economic resilience, while our class-leading extended-stay offering creates a competitive advantage.
We want to support the wellbeing of our team and integrate harmoniously with our local communities, so we’re constantly assessing and improving the structural sustainability of our business.
Having already brought 33 sanctuaries to life, we dream of introducing soulful hospitality to every gateway city across Europe in just a few short years.
Why? Because it’s what today’s travellers want.
With extended stays becoming more common, aparthotels and serviced apartments are a home away from home – design-led, practically fitted-out spaces to live, work and be immersed in the local culture and community.
Here at edyn, we have an opportunity and an obligation to lead and define an emerging sector.
Renowned for his love of efficiency, Dan Carre-Bishop has contracted his name to DCB in the interests of simplicity and speed. He heads up the overall financial strategy across the group, as well as the day-to-day operation of edyn’s finance function and related disciplines such as procurement and property administration. DCB was previously a Regional Supply Chain Finance Director and Commercial Finance Director at AkzoNobel, until he figured out that hospitality sounded a lot more fun than paints and performance coatings. DCB is known for being fiercely competitive, although he would call it “maximising his personal potential”. A committed Francophile, in his spare time he can be found across the Channel, with his Anglo-Franco family, a glass of wine in hand and a new culinary experience a la table.
Abi is edyn’s go-to guru for all things digital and is in charge of ensuring that our platform and brands stay as cutting-edge as possible. He brings a wealth of experience in leading technology-driven change projects, having held roles in consumer retail giants including Sainsbury's and Home Retail Group.
More recently, he engineered a tech-led transformation and a highly personalised consumer offer at Paws Group, an online pet care and wellbeing business.
Hailing from Milton Keynes, Abi is a keen sportsman and plays football, tennis, basketball and golf among his more sedentary passions of film, music and food. You have to wonder how he finds time for his three young kids.
Mimi heads up edyn’s People & Culture team and has a passion for coaching, connecting with, and inspiring people to help them reach their potential. Ask Mimi about what makes people tick, and you will get a huge smile and a great discussion!
Before joining edyn, Mimi was HR Director for EMEA at Disney across their Consumer Products, Gaming and Publishing division. She has also held senior People & Culture leadership roles with Converse, Farfetch Group and Nike. Her broad experience across these large brands, and across multiple European geographies, has made her the perfect leader for edyn’s People & Culture work, and Mimi is now focused on leading its evolution as we build our scale and sophistication.
Mimi is Greek-America, bilingual and also has a smattering of Dutch and Spanish. She lives in London with her daughter Georgia and in her spare time has been in vocal training for nearly a decade, so expectations around karaoke performance are high. She’s also something of a bio-hacker and a passionate cook
As the group’s Development Director, Charles is tasked with overseeing the development & construction process. This includes technical due diligence at acquisition, planning/permitting, procurement, construction, project close out and handover. During his international career, Charles has delivered over £1bn of projects by value, priding himself on the disciplined execution of each asset. His previous roles include Director at Jones Lang LaSalle and Union Hanover Securities in addition to Project Manager at Mace and Currie & Brown. When Charles isn’t on site, he spends his time cycling and transporting his daughter around Greater London. During his time living in Russia, Charles expanded his cultural perspective and diplomacy, but mostly built an impressive ability to consume vodka. In addition to some interesting nicknames, he holds the titles MRICS and MCIOB.
Maddalena is edyn’s General Counsel responsible for overseeing all our legal matters ranging from compliance and risk management, corporate structure, tax, trademark and data protection, to property, finance, commercial agreements, employment and leases. Maddalena works closely with the acquisition, investment, finance, development and operations teams at edyn, providing strategic advice and managing teams of external legal advisors across multiple jurisdictions. Prior to edyn, Maddalena was a Senior Counsel at Taylor Wessing, where she worked for 17 years. When Maddalena isn’t keeping the business safe and us all out of jail, she spends what little time is left with her family and her passion for discovery.
Operations is where the rubber hits the road: and Paul is the driver. Since the age of 16, hospitality has been Paul’s life. So, having spent most of his life in boutique hotels across Europe, Russia and Israel, he knows a thing or two about hotel operations – it also explains why he started going grey at 25. Genuine and unique experiences are what makes Paul tick, that and a love for 90s hip-hop and electronica (his favourite group is Massive Attack which should earn him some brownie points with our Bristol cohort). On the odd occasion he’s not at a Locke, you’ll find Paul in Edinburgh with his wife Arlene and sons Jack and Charlie (not forgetting Cooper the dog) or, on another whirlwind adventure, probably adding to his extensive tattoo collection.
